Shelving Assistants

Do you like to put things in order? Are you energetic and do you like areas neat and orderly? We have the job for you! The Plainfield Public Library District has two openings for part-time Shelving Assistants.

The responsibilities of a Shelving Assistant include shelving materials, emptying indoor and outdoor book returns, and directing patrons as needed.

These are high energy positions involving stairs, stooping, and pushing loaded, heavy carts. It also requires effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

The positions are part-time, non-exempt, and pay $11.00 per hour. 

We have two positions available:

Shelving Assistant – Evening (up to 14.5 hours per week)

Monday 5pm – 9pm
Tuesday 6pm – 9pm
Wednesday 6pm – 9pm
Saturday 9am – 1:30 or 1pm – 5pm (rotating shifts)

Shelving Assistant – Day (up to 16.5 hours per week)

Thursday 10 am – 4 pm
Friday 11am – 5pm
Saturday 9am – 1:30 or 1pm – 5pm (rotating shifts)
