The Great Read
Martin Luther King, Jr.: A Life, a Legacy

This year’s community read focuses on the life and lasting legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a Baptist minister, social activist in the Civil Rights Movement and the youngest man to have received the Nobel Peace Prize.

Attend any Great Read program or read a book about Dr. King to enter a free drawing to win a Barnes & Noble gift card. 

The Great Read is proudly presented by the Fountaindale Public Library District; Joliet Junior College; Joliet Public Library; Lemont Public Library District; Plainfield Public Library District; Plainfield School District 202; and the White Oak Library District.

In the spirit of giving and peace, please bring canned goods or supplies to the closing event, benefiting Bags of Hope, Morningstar Mission of Joliet and St. John Food Pantry. For a list of needed supplies and more information, please visit www.greatread.org.

The Great Read Finale

Vocalist, songwriter and educator Maggie Brown will perform songs linked to and inspired by the Civil Rights Movement. Refreshments and book giveaways (while supplies last).
