Technology at the Library
- Mobile Hotspots – the Library has access to 13 Wi-Fi hotspots you can use to connect your mobile-enabled devices (e.g. laptop, smartphones, tablets, etc.) to the Internet. Hotspots are portable so you can connect your device almost wherever you go and can be checked out for 3 weeks. Place a hold on a mobile hotspot here.
- Computer Access – there are 12 Windows 10 computers for adults on the upper level – all you need is your library card to get started. Don’t have a Plainfield library card? Stop by the Reference Desk for a one-day guest pass. All computers are preloaded with Microsoft Office 2016.
- Printing/Copying – the cost for printing/copying is 10 cents a side in black & white and 50 cents a side in color. Printers accept change (no pennies), cash, as well as credit cards (Visa or Mastercard). You can also use any money stored on your library card to pay for prints.
- Scanning/Faxing – the Scan Station provides quick and easy scanning for a variety of tasks, including: scan to fax ($1.00 per page); scan to Google Drive; scan to email; scan to a USB drive; and scan to a smartphone/tablet. Files can be scanned as PDF, DOC (Microsoft Word), TIFF, and JPEG.
The Library has two meeting rooms available for non-profit organizations to use for a nominal fee. To be eligible to use either room, the person securing the room must have a valid Plainfield Library card in good standing.
In order to reserve a room, please read through and agree to the Library’s Meeting Room policy, if you and your organization meet the criteria for use. Once you have clicked on I agree, you will be able to check the availability and place your reservation, which requires a non-refundable $25.00 fee, payable within 72 hours of your reservation request. Every month on the third Wednesday, Noon to 1:30 PM, attend a presentation on a career-related topic and network with local job seekers in a friendly and helpful atmosphere. Visit our Events Calendar for more information.
